This would be what a book on android would cost and you can learn a lot. So for a beginning android hacker this would be a good one to cut your teeth on.

If you install SU and SuperUser, you will be rooted. You hook it to ADB and it comes up with a root shell. You can get some apps from 1mobile market. It is not a google registered device so no play store but also no google account so no data flowing to the cloud and no google data spying. Overall Review: I bought one of these under the Polaroid name. Out of the main stream for an android device Not connected to google account - privacy! The keyboard/case can be used on other 7in tablets like a Polaroid PMID705. The apps included do not refer to the internal flash memory and external micro SD card uniformly so novice users may be confused where their data is being stored. When plugged into a PC, the tablet is IDed as a single media device rather than removable media (internal & external flash drives).

Overall Review: You will need a USB Male A to USB Micro Male cable to connect to a PC which is included with other tablets as part of the charging unit. Charging unit uses a needle like plug instead of a Mini RCA or Micro USB.

Manual specifically states that the unit can not be charged through the USB micro port (keyboard uses that). Once this done, the unit acts more friendly. Google Play and other apps such as Adobe Reader, ScummVM, Opera can be found and installed manually this way.
You have to find several key apps on the Net, download them to a PC and then sideload them to the unit and then install them. It isn't the "unpack, turn on, go direct to an app store" process that many buyers expect. There is a higher learning curve on this. Instruction manual is somewhat better than other cheap tablets.Ĭons: It is slow and on mine the speaker is not very loud. The case itself (even if you aren't interested in the keyboard) is better than most. Thus you can use your finger & the touch screen like a mouse with the rest of the input from the keyboard. Pros: It comes with a detachable keyboard/case combo so you won't be frustrated with a virtual keyboard or trying to poke items items that are too close on the screen. I don't believe it would be good for a child either because you have to be so concise with the touch screen. It certainly would have been worth the $30 - $50 more. Overall Review: In retrospect I would have held out for a more capable tablet with Google play installed from the factory.

I haven't figured out how to connect to the web in any way other than wifi, meaning you need to use mobile hotspot if you want to browse the web on the move, for me I would rather just use my smartphone. I feel like I have to be overly ginger and accurate when using the touch screen. The included web browser is slow, I haven't yet been able to install chrome to see if it's any faster. Doesn't use a micro usb charger so you can't share chargers with your other android devices, or charge it in the car. Tab of keyboard case hangs in front of screen.
The included keyboard is nice, has "f" keys and ctrl and alt.Ĭons: No Google play store, making it quite difficult (perhaps impossible) to install the apps you have already purchased through Google play. Feels durable, especially when in the case. Pros: USB mouse, keyboard, storage drive, plug and play.
